Welcome to Inside Education. It was a tremendous year. I have not spoken to many of you since the Literacy Conference and I send my apologies for my tardiness of the newsletter. In part, the board has agreed to publish two, rather than three, newsletters per year. At this time, I thank you for your support, but I am resigning from the newsletter editor position. I would greatly appreciate if anyone has an interest in the position, please contact me via our email address acea@telusplanet.net or kldrozda@excalibur.ca or phone 403 342 2600. Thank you.

We have moved the ACEA website. ACEA's website carrier is National Adult Literacy Database (NALD). They will be managing the site, but I resumed the interim responsibility and will monitor and maintain the content. Please have a look at our updated site at www.nald.ca/acea . Let us know what you think and suggestions are welcome.

We should also give a round of applause to the Correctional Service of Canada and the U.S. Department of Justice Federal Bureau of Prisons for a wonderful and informational Literacy Conference, in Ottawa. There were many people to mingle & converse with (way to go folks, we represented ACEA with 65 delegates!), many panel discussions, training sessions, plenaries and workshops to choose from and of course the keynote speakers. I do hope you also enjoyed the banquet with Lesra Martin, or took part in a tour and the social events. Ottawa is a beautiful city, the location of the conference could not have been better for some attractions and within walking distance of the hotels.

Now, don't forget about the ACEA 2001, 15th Annual Conference, "A Correctional Odyssey" just around the corner, March 21, 22, 23, 2001, Banff Park Lodge. I look forward to meeting you there.

Thank you Pat Mulgrew, Gary Grimsdale, and Drumheller Institution for printing and supplying the paper for our cover page of the newsletter, it looks great! Your support to the ACEA is very appreciated.

Cheers to all, and a Happy New Year!

Kimberly
